In order to be able to enjoy your teak deck as long as possible, you should pay attention to a few instructions. The relevant industry offers a wide range of products that are more or less efficient. However, the "classic method" has shown to be the most effective: A cleaning with water and soft soap is still the best and cheapest way of maintaining a teak deckboard. We recommend using sponges with rubbing fleece, just like the ones that are used in any kitchen. Carefully rub the surface, the deeper pores will not be affected.
If you prefer cleaning with a brush please make sure you only work diagonal to the grain. Otherwise, you will produce deep furrows in the teak wood since you will be bringing out the soft wood fibers.
If it should be necessary to brighten the deck, it is advisable to only use lemon acid or clear vinegar. Fill a bucket with one half water and one half vinegar and use it to clean your deck. See for yourself: For a low cost and without using any toxic chemicals, your deck will be good as new!
